The Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) athletic department will host a meet-and-greet with the head men’s and women’s basketball coaches Saturday, October 13, from 11a.m. to noon as part of Homecoming weekend. The event will take place in the newly-renovated Penmen Room overlooking the Stan Spirou Fieldhouse in the Athletic Complex.
Associate Athletic Director Tom Wilkens arranged the event for fans to meet Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Karen Pinkos, and Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Jack Perri. Perri replaced Stan Spirou after 33 years of coaching and will begin his first season as head coach later this month.
The meet-and-greet will serve as an introduction to Perri. As “the ‘new’ guy,” he hopes to inform fans of his plans and expectations for the upcoming basketball season.
“It’s been 30 plus years since someone other than Stan Spirou ran a Southern New Hampshire practice,” Perri said. “I am sure people will want to know the type of environment that I am establishing and what my expectations are.”
The event is open to the public. Friends, family, faculty and lovers of basketball are all encouraged to attend. The goal is to get everyone excited for the season.
Fans will also get to speak with current players during Saturday’s meet-and-greet. Seniors Charlie Russo, Daquaise Andrews, Kylie Lorenzen and Brianna Camara will attend the event.
The men’s and women’s basketball teams are set to open their 2019 slate November 10 and November 9, respectively. The men will play NYIT while the women take on Bloomfield at the Stan Spirou Field House.
