The Cupboard at Southern New Hampshire University is a resource for students facing food insecurity. This resource is available to all students and can be accessed anonymously upon request.

The Cupboard is located in Hospitality room 302, down the hall from the campus closet. The hours of the cupboard are Monday- Friday 9 am through 6 pm.

Students who have permission can use their student ID and have access to fill four full grocery bags with products of need. These products are donated by the New Hampshire Food Bank along with small contributions from businesses and other resources.

The Cupboard is a supplemental food source used to target those who need extra food. This year, The Cupboard is evaluating students needs based on their individual circumstances and resource availability.

Daniel Poulin has been at SNHU for two years as Director of Student Support Resources alongside Nicole Monahan. They want to get to know students who are in need of The Cupboards resources.

“Our goal is to have productive conversations with people. If they are interested in reaching out, we will have a conversation and learn more about the challenges they are facing. We are then able to have productive meetings with students. The goal is to have a  supplemental resource that’s modest and will provide you enough to get through, and have stuff to make at home,” said Poulin.

Students can email The Cupboard to request foods that fit dietary needs.

“We try to be mindful of all students dietary needs such as vegetarian, vegan, halal and kosher options,” says Poulin.

All students face different struggles, The Cupboard is a resource used to minimize the basic need for food in students going through food adversity in their college experience.
