JCPenney at the Mall of New Hampshire in Manchester is partnering with Southern New Hampshire University’s (SNHU) Career Development Center for an event called Suit Up Sunday, February 17, from 3-6 p.m. Suit Up will offer all SNHU students a 40% discount on business professional and business casual attire.

This is the first time SNHU is collaborating with a major retail chain. Jason Whitney, the Associate Director of the Career Development Center, says the collaboration actually happened by accident. Many offices around campus were asking if students could receive discounts at stores for professional attire for job interviews and presentations. Soon after, Whitney received an email from JCPenney’s corporate office in Texas. They wanted to set up the Suit Up event with SNHU.

All SNHU campus students, faculty and staff members with a SNHU ID will get 40% off men’s and women’s professional clothes and shoes. The discount, however, only applies to JCPenney’s dress apparel department.

But that’s not all. In addition to the 40% discount, SNHU students and faculty can receive deals from the Sephora inside JCPenney and in the Salon. Sephora will give women a free mini-makeover and the salon will give women a free hair consultation with special savings on their next appointment.

Whitney continues to talk with JCPenney’s corporate office in Texas and JCPenney’s general manager in the Mall of New Hampshire to set up the event. He will manage and coordinate the event with other staff members from the Career Development Center.

Students who purchase clothing from Suit Up are urged to wear their stylish new clothes at the Career Fair on February 27. These clothes, though, can be worn to any professional event including a job interview, an informational interview or to any  event coordinated by the Career Development Center such as the LinkedIn workshop and profile picture photo-op.
