Junior Kylie Lorenzen (Holliston, Mass.) amassed 28 points and a career-high 16 rebounds, while scoring the 1,000th point of her career, to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women’s basketball team to a 62-49 win against Pace University on Wednesday evening at the SNHU Fieldhouse.

Lorenzen, who becomes the 17th member of the program to reach the 1,000-point milestone, made 10 of her 20 shots from the field and 8 of 9 from the line. Seven of Lorenzen’s 16 boards came on the offensive end, while she also dished a pair of assists. Freshman Sarah Deyo (Attleboro, Mass.) fell one point shy of her career high, as she posted 11 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3-FG, 1-2 FT) and four rebounds.

Lauren Schetter paced the Setters with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Geena Rosalbo and Alexandra Monteleone added 12 and 10, respectively.

Four points from Lorenzen powered a game-opening 8-2 run over the first two-and-a-half minutes before a 15-2 counter-barrage from Pace – with seven points from Schetter – gave it a 17-10 advantage with 3:31 remaining in the opening stanza. Five straight from the Penmen – sparked by a three-point play from Lorenzen that would earn her the milestone – would cut the deficit to just a pair over a minute later, but a 7-1 spurt from Pace pushed its lead back to 24-16 with under a minute to go. The Setters would lead it, 24-18, after one.

Following a Schetter layup to open the second stanza, four straight from Lorenzen triggered a quarter-ending 9-2 run that slashed the Pace lead to 28-27 at the break.

Pace had nudged the gap to three less than two-and-a-half minutes into the third quarter when Southern New Hampshire capped the frame with a 14-3 blitz that gave it a 44-36 advantage heading into the fourth. Lorenzen led five scorers with five points during the stretch, while a Deyo bucket gave the Penmen the lead for good at 34-33 with 6:22 left in the third.

Four straight points from freshman Gyanna Russell (E. Hampton, Conn.) to open the fourth quarter stretched the SNHU lead to 12. Pace would get as close as eight before three points each from Deyo and Lorenzen carried an 8-0 run that gave the Penmen their largest lead of the contest at 62-46 with 37 seconds on the clock.

Russell finished with seven points (1-5 FG, 5-6 FT) and four rebounds, while senior Catherine Stinson (Lynn, Mass.) added six points (2-8 FG, 2-2 FT). Junior Brianna Camara (Fall River, Mass.) tallied three points (1-8 FG, 1-4 3-FG), seven rebounds and four assists. Sophomore Molly Terry (Shrewsbury, Mass.) chimed in with five points (1-4 FG, 1-2 3-FG, 2-2 FT) and two rebounds.
