To kickoff homecoming weekend at Southern New Hampshire University, Concert Series SNHU hosted their fourth fundraising event, starring Cozy Throne & Glad Valley on October 17th. As described by Domenick Donati (’26), “Concert Series SNHU is a culmination of the SNHU community where we highlight local original bands and fundraise for a charity of choice.”
The concert was a result of collaboration between the SNHU Concert Series team, the Chandler Center, RadioSNHU, Student Government Association, Film and Photography Club, Penmen Press, Last Chapter Pub and Donald Brezinski (Executive Vice President of Campus Administration). Tech Crew manager, Joshua Rose (’26) described his experience by stating, “It went really well, it was definitely a great community builder and for a good cause. I was more than willing to help out with any and all of their tech needs!”
Donati (’26) spoke more about his experience and how the program came to be. Originally recruited in November of 2024 by Angie Rupple (’25), he found himself with an undeniable alignment and passion for Concert Series SNHU, event programming, and the core values of the program, deciding to continue the tradition after the founders’ graduation. He then recruited Laken Graham (’28) and Brianna Frisbee (’26), as well as Patrick DeFelice (’28). Donati (’26) further explained, “This isn’t required, this is a passion. I truly think this is an event that anyone can be a part of, it’s just one big community hub.”
This semester, the event raised awareness and donations for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Through raffles, virtual and physical donations, the Concert Series team successfully met their goal of raising $1,000 for UNICEF. When asked why they chose UNICEF to fundraise for, Laken Graham (’28) explained, “The main reason we chose UNICEF was their broad scope of ways in which they support children worldwide. They provide a wide variety of life improving or lifesaving aid such as protection from abuse and violence, access to education, access to clean water and sanitation, equity and social protection, and nutrients.”
During an interview conducted with the opening band Glad Valley, they explained that Shayne (lead singer), Alex (bass), Steve (drums), and Mazz (guitar and keys) met each other through family and friends; slowly forming the band. Donati (’26) explained that Glad Valley initially turned down being paid for their performance. When asked why, Shayne explained that they felt aligned with the values of Concert Series SNHU and that they weren’t performing for the money, they were performing for their love and passion for the music as well as to support UNICEF.
