COM Studio 199 is a course offered at SNHU which teaches communications majors the necessary skills needed to thrive in a work environment.

The class provides students with the ability to: work with mock clients, find an area of focus within their major, and navigate the professional world. The class’s projects will be tailored to the student’s interests and strong suits within the communications umbrella. This allows for every student to succeed and feel as if they are given an opportunity to do what they excel at.

During the brief eight-week course, groups will be established and tasked to develop agencies. These agencies will create roles for each member, and present solutions and marketing ideas based off of mock clients. According to their role in the agency, some students might be focusing on branding and marketing of product, while others are in charge of public relations.

It is the freedom and creativity of these projects that make them unique to each group, and the individual students assigned to them. There is a lot of room for students to adapt their given project and make it their own. Since the communications major is broad, the group projects allow students to try out different roles in the major that may interest them.

That is why the COM Studio 199 course is so beneficial to take at SNHU. It has real world applications which can help students in the communications major to get a leg-up in their desired field. Other skills that can be taken away from this course include: public speaking, collaborating with others, and learning how to interact with future clients. These types of work-life skills have a ton of practical uses in any student’s future career.

The course is precisely paired with the line of work communications majors will be going into, giving them the best opportunity to learn how to succeed in their future work environment.
