The SNHU baseball team faced Saint Michael’s in a double header Saturday, March 3 at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Massachusetts. The two wins brought the Penmen’s overall record to a perfect 7-0.

After a scoreless start, Saint Michael’s took the lead at the top of the fifth inning, bringing the score up 1-0. SNHU Caleb Potter (’18) soon tied up the game in the bottom of the sixth when he led with a double and scored after sophomore Phoenix Hernandez’s double.

Saint Michael’s scored a couple more runs bringing their score up to four runs. SNHU quickly took the lead in the seventh inning with runs by Ethan Harris (’20) and Kyle Pangallo (’18). This lead to a 6-4 win for the Penmen in Game 1.

Game Two started off strong when red shirt John Stanton’s (’19) single brought the score to 1-0 followed by red shirt senior Ryan Sullivan’s two-run homer. The Penmen then lead 3-0.

Tom Blandini (’20) brought the house down when he scored a five-run second, clearing all bases that brought the score up to 6-0. Bases were loaded when Jake Coro (’21) took a loaded walk making the score 8-0.

Potter’s RBI double and Dakota Mulcay’s (’21) run-scoring single extended the Penmen’s score to 10-0. Sam Henrie (’21) capped the scoring in the fifth and the Penmen swept Saint Michael’s with a final score of 11-0 to wrap up the double header.

The Penmen then went on to play West Chester University in a double header March 4. They lost both games, bringing their overall record to 7-2.

They will return to action Friday, March 9, when they travel to Florida for Spring Break.
