SNHU now has a new club called SNHU Buddies. The group created this club so people who are in high school or older with different intellectual and developmental disabilities can come meet other SNHU students. The purpose of the club is to meet new people, make new friends and create life long friendships.

On Saturday, February 25 from 6-8 p.m., the club held a meet and greet event for the buddies to come and meet all the SNHU students who are a part of this club. This event was held in the small gym in the Athletic Complex.

Madison Rabbitt, a first-year student at SNHU and a member of the SNHU Buddies club was so happy to see this event be so successful. “Our buddies were so excited because they got to make a bunch of new friends with all of the SNHU students,” Rabbitt said. There were many activities that the buddies could participate in throughout the night with all of their new SNHU friends.

“The buddies got to play basketball, decorate cupcakes, snap some photos in a photo booth, eat some pizza, play Just Dance on the Wii, hang out and just have a great time,” Rabbitt said.

To wrap up the meet and greet event, the club members got everybody together and took a group photo before saying goodbye to the buddies.

“So many of the SNHU students came out and genuinely had so much fun playing games and getting to know all the buddies in our club,” first year student Melissa Markwarth said.

The club holds weekly meetings on Wednesdays, where they have some buddies show up and hang out. “This is a great club regardless of who you are or what disability you have, you can come, hang out and have a good time,” Rabbitt said. For more information about this club, email buddies@snhu.edu
