The office of Study Abroad works hard to provide SNHU students with select summer programs, starting from the summer of 2018.

Its main commitment is still to encourage students to spend time abroad, especially for those who may not be able to spend one academic semester abroad.

“It’s a great tool for first year students to experience the idea of study abroad,” said Stefano Parenti, the director of study abroad.

The Study Abroad Office works closely with other SNHU Offices to promote these programs to the First Year students as part of their “Global Component at SNHU.” This could become for some students a fundamental component of an “educational pre-departure experience” before attending an entire semester abroad.

Students will be able to take three credits and their credits will be transferable to SNHU. “They will not be full time students,” said Parenti.

This two and three week summer program will help students to become more comfortable with the families they stay with and the new environment.

Through a few selected, preapproved summer programs SNHU guarantees a responsible controlling of these programs and their academic quality in collaboration with its partners overseas.

Students can apply for a three week program in the heart of Mediterranean, in the ancient city of Syracuse in Sicily, Italy.

“They could enjoy a whole experience for immersing themselves in the Italian language and local culture and its millenary traditions, while rediscovering the importance to “slow down” and the beauty of another aspect of freedom,” said Parenti.

Students also have the opportunity to apply for a two week program in the city of Merida in the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico, a place where the beauty of the environment blends naturally with the mystery of an incredible cultural heritage, generating a fascinating “set” for a unique study abroad experience.

The Office of Study Abroad is working on its new partnership with another school in the continent of Asia. More information will come soon.
