Eta Sigma Delta is the latest honor society to establish themselves on campus. The group recognizes exceptional academic achievement in students studying hospitality management majors.

Recently, the organization welcomed seven Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) students.

Students can expect careerbuilding opportunities from the honor society. Membership allows a student to distinguish themselves in the eyes of educators, recruiters, and industry executives. Students can build a strong networking system and get invited to participate in special events.

“I want students to be able to learn as much about our industry as possible before they graduate,” said Allison Vigue, President and Co-Founder of the SNHU chapter of the organization.

Vigue has big plans for their first year, one of which is a trip to the Hotel Experience trade show in New York City.

“There will be over 18,000 industry leaders, so this will be an amazing opportunity for chapter members to network,” said Vigue.

Other key activities include community service projects and a book discussion on The New Gold Standard: 5 Principles for Creating a Legendary Customer Service Experience by Joseph Michelli.

This book was written for use by the Ritz Carlton. The discussion will hopefully be followed by a tour of the hotel, guided by a SNHU alumnus.

“I want this organization to be where students will find what they are most passionate about in the hospitality and culinary industries,” said Vigue.

To be invited to join Eta Sigma Delta, a student must be enrolled in an appropriate major and hold a minimum 3.0 GPA. For information on the SNHU Chapter, please contact faculty adviser Kimberly Monk, k.monk@snhu.edu.
