Award-winning author and poet Matthew Miller is visiting SNHU in the Walker Auditorium on October 19 at 5 pm.
Staff and students who attend will be able to hear select poetry and excerpts from his newest book, “Tender the River,” released earlier this year.
Miller was born and raised in Lowell, MA, and has been writing for decades. He earned his BA and played varsity football at Yale before receiving his BFA from Emerson College in Creative Writing.
To date, he has written four books and dozens of poems, essays and reviews. Miller has taught creative writing classes at many of the most prestigious universities, including Princeton, UMass Lowell and Harvard Extension.
Miller resides in New Hampshire with his family and teaches English, coaches football and co-directs the writer’s workshop at Phillips Exeter Academy.
Miller has won several notable awards during his time as a poet, including the 2012 Vassar Miller Prize in Poetry for his book “Club Icarus.”
